Job in IT #Week 8

     This week I will talk about IT job requirements in Latvia. Although I don't really have experience with that so much because I have just started to search for one, but I have heard many different things.

    For example, if you are looking for some basic first job opportunities in many places they will take you with "open hands" and teach everything you have to know. The only requirement is that you are willing to learn and work hard. But you wouldn't think that by looking at some junior offers (Junior programmer): 


    However if you already have some experience then usually it is something like this (This is for Full stack developer):

    And it's worth mentioning that everywhere they are expecting candidates to be willing to learn, hardworking and as an extra- good social skills. It is also interesting that although many people study IT in Latvia, good specialists are still on demand. Because new IT students aren't qualified enough but in older generation there aren't so many specialists. So the main thing you will hear from everyone in IT is if you are willing to learn and do it also on your free time then you will succeed; if you are looking for a job where you basically do the same thing all the time then maybe IT isn't for you or you will just be at the lower end of professionals.

Cybercrime issues in Latvia Week#10

 Hello there!      This week I will be talking a bit about cyber security measures and problems in Latvia. To be honest I have never really heard much about this topic and now when I think about it I can recall only few instances where I saw some news about specific scams to be careful about.      In schools we are not about any security measures or threats that should be avoided, and to give a bit more of insight in our informatics course it's basically working with Word, Powerpoint etc. And this is something that people are slowly starting to realise- the lack of education in this topic. For example, there was a paper made specifically about my high school and cyberthreats and the main part didn't even know some basic vulnerabilities.     Also as I mentioned previously only few times some scams have been made as public awareness and even that was from specific users on Facebook or Instagram. Copyright issue Week#5

 Hello everyone!     Today I will be talking about copyrights and some suggestions written by Christian Engström MEP & Rick Falkvinge in a book "The Case for Copyright Reform". But I would like to mention that my point of view is as a consumer and I have almost no idea how these reforms would impact companies and authors.       First of all, why do we have such a big problem with copyrights and pirating?     My answer would be that paying for services is not an option for everyone, and even if you pay there are many things that still are not accessible to you. For example, for few years now I have been paying for Netflix, but there ae so many shows and movies that I can't get which would mean I either have to pay for something else or get it online.
